Instructional Technology

IMG 2218At Hillel Torah we envision the use of technology as a tool to extend, enrich, and support our dual curriculum.

Technology expands the learning experience of every student. We create a rich learning environment, enhance student engagement, and develop their problem-solving skills collaboratively and individually. We strive to integrate technology into the curriculum in ways that will address students’ individual needs, developmental levels, and learning styles. Technology use is designed to positively affect the learning of our students. Students and staff use technology to enrich instruction in meaningful ways.

The foundation of our instructional technology practice is the International Society for Technology in Education’s National Educational Technology Standards (NETS). These standards include:

  • Creativity and Innovation
  • Communication and Collaboration
  • Research and Information Fluency
  • Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Decision Making
  • Technology Operations and Concepts

The Shirley Lennon Memorial computer lab and our Judaic/Hebrew lab, combine to form the centerpiece of our technology program. Instruction is delivered during regularly scheduled computer classes with over 225-networked computers throughout the school. Our facilities include a computerized Library/ Learning Center, 17 SMARTBoards and 2 SMART Tables for interactive instruction, which is an integral component of differentiating instruction meeting the needs of all learners.

Many of our students come to school with basic computer skills, which we focus on educational purposes beginning in Kindergarten. As they progress through the grades, students learn:

  • Keyboarding
  • Word processing
  • Research
  • Publishing,
  • Power Point and
  • Spreadsheets.
