tuition & affordability
A Hillel Torah education is a worthwhile investment in your child’s future.
We understand that investing in your child’s education is a major commitment, and we’re here to help. If tuition seems out of reach, we encourage you to apply for financial assistance. We’re committed to working with every family to make a Hillel Torah education possible.

At Hillel Torah, your child is at the center of everything we do. A preschool through 8th grade Modern Orthodox Jewish Day School, we’re proud to offer a progressive, child-centered education with a long legacy of preparing the Jewish leaders of tomorrow. We combine academic excellence with hands-on experiential learning while nurturing the whole child intellectually, spiritually, and emotionally. Our students learn to think critically, communicate effectively, and grow into confident learners and proud bnei and bnot Torah with stellar middot.

Affording a Hillel Torah Education
We understand that Jewish education is a significant investment, and we’re committed to making it accessible to every family. If tuition feels beyond your means, we encourage you to apply for financial assistance. Our process is private, respectful, and designed to support you every step of the way.
Your Affordability Options
We offer a range of financial assistance programs to help make a Hillel Torah education accessible for your family. Whether you’re just starting out or navigating tuition for multiple children, we’re here to support you.
Hillel Torah Affordability Fund
Open to all families.
We partner with FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment to determine financial need. To apply:
- Complete a FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment application along with all required documentation.
- After submission, you’ll receive a short supplemental form from the school to return to the attention of the Financial Aid Committee.
* If you have questions or concerns about the application process, contact FACTS Customer Care at 866-441-4637.
Tuition Accessibility Partnership (TAP) Fund
Available for Nursery-8 families with an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) between $200,000 and $350,000.
We’re proud to be one of five pilot schools participating in the TAP Fund, powered by Crown Family Philanthropies, a Chicago-based foundation dedicated to partnering with its communities to effect just and lasting social impact across generations.
The TAP Fund caps Nursery-8 tuition at 12% of your AGI, with TAP covering the remainder.
We invite you to apply for the TAP Fund:
- If you qualify but need additional help covering the 12%, submit a FACTS application to further assist with your tuition obligation.
- If you qualify and can pay 12% of AGI, no further applications are needed.
“The TAP fund has been particularly helpful for our family and has made us feel we do not have to make our school preferences a financial discussion”
JUF Right Start

For families in Pre-Nursery and Nursery enrolling in Jewish early childhood education for the first time.
We proudly participate in JUF Right Start, which offers Gift Vouchers from $500-$2,000 toward tuition. Funded and administered by the Jewish United Fund, JUF Right Start encourages Jewish early childhood education and strengthens a family’s bond to the Jewish community.
Bernard Heerey Family Foundation Scholarship Program
For families with two or more children in grades 1–7.
The Bernard Heerey Family Foundation Scholarship Program at Hillel Torah was established to make a day school education more affordable for middle-income families with more than one child enrolled at Hillel Torah Day School.
Need-based scholarships of approximately $5,000 per eligible student are awarded to families with two or more children in grades 1-7 who pay the equivalent of one full middle school tuition. A completed FACTS application is required for eligibility.
Scholarship notifications are included in your Financial Assistance letter.
Every Hillel Torah family is expected to contribute to the Kehillah Fund and JUF. We encourage our families to be as generous as possible to these organizations, which provide much-needed support to our school.
Tuition reflects a significant subsidy through the generosity of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago and the Kehillah Fund.
“As new parents, we were nervous to approach the school asking for assistance. The process was seamless, and Mr. Shandalov made us feel respected and valued the entire time. We felt relieved and grateful that we can offer our children an HT education within our means.”
