“As new parents, we were hesitant to approach the school asking for assistance. We were nervous and embarrassed not to be able to afford things from the get-go. The process was seamless and Mr. Shandalov made us feel respected and valued the entire time. We were relieved and grateful we can offer our children an HT education within our means.”

At Hillel Torah, we believe that a Jewish Education is a vital and worthwhile investment in our Jewish future. Maintaining our heritage, fostering a love for the Land of Israel and passing on Torah values to our children cannot be accomplished without a quality Jewish Day School education.

We are also aware that for many parents, tuition is higher than can be met reasonably. For that reason, we urge parents who feel that the tuition is beyond their means not to hesitate to apply for financial assistance. In these challenging times, Hillel Torah deeply believes that financial aid is an essential expression of our values and critical for our families whose circumstances require such assistance. Our process is private and confidential and we are here to help you through the process.

We offer two programs for financial assistance depending on your family’s eligibility:

  • The Hillel Torah Scholarship Fund
  • The new TAP Fund, for families with an annual gross income (AGI) between $200,000 and $350,000

Hillel Torah Scholarship Fund
Available for all families to apply.

New This Year – The Tuition Accessibility Partnership (TAP) Fund
Available for families with an AGI between $200,000 and $350,000.

TAP into your child’s future.  Introducing a new way for families to access Jewish education at Hillel Torah.

We are proud to be one of five pilot schools participating in the TAP Fund, powered by Crown Family Philanthropies, a Chicago-based foundation dedicated to partnering with its communities to effect just and lasting social impact across generations.

Under this new program, for families with an AGI between $200,000 and $350,000, Hillel Torah K-8 tuition will be capped at 12% of their AGI. The TAP fund will cover the remaining tuition balance.

We invite you to apply for the TAP Fund if your AGI for 2022 (or if you prefer, 2023) falls within the $200,000 to $350,000 range.

  • If you qualify for the TAP Fund and are able to pay the required 12% of your AGI, you do not need to complete the standard Hillel Torah FACTS application.
  • If you qualify for the TAP Fund but are unable to pay the full 12% of your AGI, you may still apply for financial aid through the FACTS application to further reduce your tuition obligation.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the financial aid process or which program is right for you, feel free to contact me at [email protected] or at (847) 674-6533. I will be happy to assist you.

Bernard Heerey Family Foundation Scholarship Program

The Bernard Heerey Family Foundation Scholarship Program at Hillel Torah was established to make a day school education more affordable for middle-income families who have more than one child enrolled at Hillel Torah Day School.

To be eligible for their scholarship, families must:

  1. Qualify for Financial Assistance through the FACTS Scholarship service
  2. Have at least two children attending Hillel Torah in grades 1-7
  3. Pay at least one full tuition ($20,350 for the 2022-2023 school year)
Meeting the above criteria will not automatically assure a family will receive a Heerey Scholarship as that will be determined, based on specific need, by the Scholarship committee. You will be notified along with your Financial Aid letter if you have been awarded a Heerey Scholarship.

Eligible students will be entitled to a $5,200 tuition grant (amount subject to change).
